Changelog
What's new in Agora.
v0.9.0September 30, 2026
- Anyone can now ask for Agora in their town without an account: the request page shows how many neighbors have joined and where they are, and "Request Agora" sits beside Sign up and Sign in
- Agora is available in French: each visitor sees French or English based on their browser, and can switch at any time from the footer
- French communes can request Agora: a commune is identified by its official INSEE code, every request is confirmed by email before it counts, and the page shows progress toward the one-fifth-of-voters threshold for a local consultation (CGCT art. L1112-16)
- Analysis now searches and cites French law in French, with citations written the French way (e.g. CGCT, art. L2121-29)
- Citations are marked verified only when the cited section was actually given to the model; a citation it could only recall from memory is labeled as such
- Using the app now requires an account with access, not just a sign-in, and three API reads that answered anonymous callers are closed
- Fixed invitation links that could not be opened, which meant nobody invited could ever be admitted
- Signing in with a new account provider now reattaches your existing account by its verified email, so your memberships and policies are not lost
- Rate limits now apply on self-hosted installs without an external service, and Agora can run on a single always-on server with nightly verified backups
v0.8.0September 21, 2026
- The town contract gate is now off by default; every account has full access unless an operator turns it back on
- Answers are written in an impersonal voice and anchored to the passages of the policy they discuss
- Law search covers every in-force New Hampshire statute, including long sections that were previously only partly searchable
- Law search now looks at the policy being asked about, not just the question; expands civic acronyms such as ADU and ZBA; and no longer favors the longest documents
- When law search is degraded, analysis now says so instead of silently answering with less
- Answer quality is now measured against a fixed set of questions before any change to the model or the search
- Accessibility audit: 26 findings fixed down to 1, then closed with captions on the demo video and verified color contrast
- Fixed "Policy not found" when opening a draft, a crash viewing a policy endorsed by an organization, and the demo video failing to load for signed-out visitors
v0.7.0August 22, 2026
- Replaced the all-or-nothing town contract gate with per-feature flags — a platform admin can now grant a town Propose/Endorse/Sign/Comment without the AI analysis workspace, or any other combination, from Admin → Organizations
- The AI analysis workspace (Analyze, ask-a-question, Compare) is now gated for the first time — previously open to any signed-in user regardless of town status; existing and new towns both default to it being off until an admin enables it
- Fixed a bug where the audit log's hash chain couldn't actually be verified: the stored timestamp didn't match the one used to compute the hash, so recomputing it from the row never matched even with zero tampering
v0.6.1August 20, 2026
- Platform admins now automatically bypass the town-contract gate — no account can lock out its own operator
- Added a per-account "town gate bypass" flag, toggleable from Admin → Users, for staff/tester/partner accounts
- Added a demo video to the homepage
v0.6.0August 14, 2026
- Homepage is now public — no sign-in required to view; every other page still requires an account
- New accounts pick a home town at onboarding; civic features (propose, endorse, petition, comment) stay locked until that town's Agora contract is active
- Added a town request flow: request Agora for your town and share a link with neighbors to add their voice
- Added a Sign Up option on the homepage alongside Sign In
- Homepage now includes the mission statement and platform overview from the Agora marketing site
v0.5.1August 13, 2026
- Fixed owner-role lockout: role checks now rank-based instead of literal admin-string comparisons across 15+ endpoints and pages
- Fixed org deletion crashing when policies/laws were endorsed or proposed on by other orgs
- Fixed petitions getting permanently stuck if the verification email wasn't clicked in time
- Fixed a crash on the mobile app's Policies tab
- Fixed comment voting to respect policy visibility and block self-voting
- Fixed Sign/Endorse buttons briefly showing the wrong state on page load
- Consolidated access-request approval into a single, consistent workflow
- Scoped member/author contact info and billing fields out of public API responses
- Added a retroactive seat check when an admin downgrades an org's plan
- Added audit logging to platform-admin organization changes
- Added Escape-key and focus handling to sign/endorse/publish/visibility menus
- Fixed low-contrast gold text failing accessibility contrast requirements
